SYDNEY — The Australian Women’s National Baseball Team, the ‘Emeralds’, will have a new manager for the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2020.

Baseball Australia has appointed new skipper Jason Pospishil, who previously managed the Sydney Blue Sox in the Australian Baseball League and the Australian youth National Teams, in addition to coaching in the Minnesota Twins organisation.

“Being the leader of a national program brings great responsibility, and I can assure everybody that I will treat that responsibility with the utmost respect it deserves,” said Pospishil. “It is a very exciting time for women in sport.”

The Aussies, currently ranked sixth in the world, finished the 2018 Women’s Baseball World Cup in 7th Place.

Pospishil takes over for previous national team manager Simone Wearne.
