The inaugural European baseball and softball Super6 took off in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, on Tuesday, 18 September. The tournament is sanctioned by WBSC Europe.

The Super6 is a competition between the top 6 European National Teams. It will happen in the calendar year when no European Championship is scheduled. It has a unique format, since it brings together the best (based on the standings of the last European Championship) baseball and softball National Teams in one location for the first time in Europe.

The baseball tournament features the two-times defending European Champions The Netherlands, their archi rivals Italy, Spain (the second place team at the 2016 Euros), Germany, Czech Republic and Belgium.

Italy will count on former Big Leaguers Alex Liddi and Chris Colabello. We can find MLB experience also on the Dutch roster with outfielder Yurendell de Caster
