The Brazilian Baseball and Softball Confederation (CBBS) unveiled the 15-athlete roster to participate in the Americas Softball Olympic Qualifier, to be held in Surrey, BC, Canada, from 25 August to 1 September. Besides, Brazil named the roster for the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup, slated to be played from 11-17 August in Irvine, USA.

World No. 14 Brazil has confirmed the names to represent the South American nation in the Americas Softball Olympic Qualifier, looking to secure one of the two tickets available for Tokyo 2020. You can see the complete roster on the CBBS website.

Nine players return from the Pan American Championship 2017 team that finished 8th place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. There, Brazil advanced to the playoffs as the 4th seeded in Group B (4-3 record), but then lost to Puerto Rico, 2-0, in a win-or-go-home game.

The 15 players will gather in Arujá, Sao Paulo, from 19-21 April, for a three-day training camp.

Roster for Irvine

At the same time, the CBBS announced 15 athletes to compete in the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup in Irvine, USA. The team will be led by Amanda Matsuzaka, Alissa Usami, Rebeca Laudino and Tiffany Suzawa, 2017 World Championship veterans who finished 13th in Clearwater.

The players were selected after a 32-athlete selection camp held in Arujá from 30-31 March.

Brazil will play their fifth consecutive Junior Women’s Softball World Championship, and the sixth overall global event in that category. The Brazilian team made its debut in 1999 in Chinese Taipei, and then has played in the last four editions of this tournament (2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017). Their best position has been seventh place, both in Cape Town (RSA) 2011 and Brampton (CAN) 2013. This year in Irvine, they will try to be back in the playoffs after six years of absence.
