The four-time World Champions USA will defend their Title in the final of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup against Chinese Taipei.
The USA came from behind. The four-time defending World Champions erased a five-run deficit and defeated Korea, 8-5. Reliever Alejandro Rosario was the hero of the day. He gave his National team 7.2 innings and he didn’t allow an earned run. Nolan Mc Lean had two hits and took care of the final three outs. Robert Hassell got the comeback started with a two-run home run.
Australia beat Japan, 4-1, and eliminated the Samurai. Starting pitcher Brendan Bidois allowed one run as he hit one batter and gave up one hit. He then went through seven innings allowing only two more hits. Jack Lee took care of four outs and Kieren Hall got the last two, the final one on strikes.
Chinese Taipei knew that the result was not going to influence the outcome of its tournament. Canada’s line up was still pretty impressive. The North Americans combined 17 hits, with as many as six players enjoying a multi-hit night. Canada earned the first win of the super round beating Chinese Taipei, 12-7.
A thunderstorm delayed the first two games of the last day of the super round. WBSC Technical Commission decided to move all the games of super round Day 3 to fields two and three.
