Host team Colombia announced its U-23 roster for the WBSC Baseball World Cup, to be held in Barranquilla and Monteria, from 19-28 October. The Colombian roster includes 20 players that belong to MLB organizations. It’s the first time the South American nation – ranked 16th in the world – will play a U-23 World Cup.
Colombia will play in Group A against No. 2 Japan, No.5 Chinese Taipei, No.6 Mexico, No.7 Netherlands, No.26 South Africa.
The roster includes three veterans from the 2013 U-18 World Cup team, that finished in the tenth position in Taichung, Taipei: Hernando Chiquillo, Carlos Vidal and Ezequiel Zabaleta.
The team received yesterday the visit of the Mayor of Barranquilla, Mr. Alejandro Char, at Edgar Rentería Stadium. Char gave a spirited talk, encouraging the team to battle and win the world title on home soil.
