CLEARWATER, FL, USA – The 12th WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship has completed two full days of preliminary round-robin games in the quest For the Title of World Champion.

CLEARWATER, FL, USA – The 12th WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship has completed two full days of preliminary round-robin games. Nations are battling to finish among the top two in their respective groups to advance into the championship round in the quest For the Title of World Champion.

At the end of the day, eight nations remain undefeated, while Peru earned their first-win ever at a WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship. Though the round-robin phase is half-way over, the championship is no closer to being able to determine who are the favorites to advance to the playoffs.

Italy earned their first win of this year’s junior world championship, defeating newcomer Turkey 13-1 in four innings. Susanna Soldi led all batters going 2-for-2 with two singles and four runs batted in. Sara Riboldi and Chiara Biasi teamed up to pitch the no-hitter to strike out nine.

Chinese Taipei remained undefeated earning their third win of the championship in a one-sided game against Turkey. Yi-Fan Ho led all batters going 3-for-3 with a double and driving in four runs. Yi Yen, Huei-Hsuan Chen, and Pei-Yun Yu each recorded two hits in the game. Yi-Shan Yang and Ya-Ting Tu teamed up to pitch the no-hitter, while striking out five batters.

Madilyn Nickles, Baylee Klingler, and Alexis Allan each hit the ball out of the park, as the entire line-up reached base on hits. Hannah Adams and Nickles contributed to the slug fest, driving in four runs each. Juarez Giselle was one walk away from pitching a perfect game, but she still managed to keep all batters at bay by not allowing a hit and striking out five.

Peru got out front early and never looked back, scoring two runs in the 1st and six runs in the 2nd before their bats went silent. Natalie Alegria led all batters going 3-for-4, with a single, double, and home run, all while driving in six runs. Pamela Hirakata also recorded two hits in the game. Michelle Iparraguirre earned the win as she limited Bahamas to four hits and fanning nine batters.
