Luke Leto helps USA push past Dominican Republic in U-15 Baseball World Cup Super Round

World No. 1 USA overcame an early deficit to earn a 13-7 win over No. 12 Dominican Republic in the Super Round of the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2018 in Panama.

DAVID, Panama – World No. 1 USA overcame an early deficit to earn a 13-7 win over No. 12 Dominican Republic in the Super Round of the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2018 in Panama.

Dominican Republic jumped to a 4-1 lead before back-to-back two-run singles from Ryan Spikes and Ryan Clifford highlighted a five-run third inning for USA.

Luke Leto, considered the top 15-year-old baseball player in the USA and potentially the world, went 3-for-3 with two RBI and four runs scored, while making big league plays at third base and pitching a perfect seventh inning to close the game.

USA starting pitcher Christian Little collected the win.

Adael Amador Santiago went 3-for-4, including two doubles and two RBI, to lead the offense for the Dominican Republic in the loss.

Angel Luna Garcia was tagged with the loss.

USA moves to 2-1 in the Super Round, while Dominican Republic drops to 0-3.

USA will face two-time defending U-15 World Champion Cuba on Friday and Dominican Republic will face Chinese Taipei.

In the 7th-12th Place Round in Chitre, the Netherlands topped European rival Germany, 4-3. Players from the two teams united after the game to exchange their respects.
