Softball World Championship: Chinese Taipei finishes in ninth place

The semi finals and the final of the placement round involved four teams: Chinese Taipei, Great Britain, China and Venezuela

Chinese Taipei beat China, 6-4, in the last game of the Placement Round of the WBSC Softball World Championship. Chinese Taipei finishes in ninth place while China is tenth.

The game was dominated by line ups, that combined 21 hits over the day.
Chinese Taipei scored three runs in the first inning, taking advantage of a defensive error and thanks to base hits by Lai Meng Ting and Lin Feng Chen.
China delivered all of their offense in the bottom of the fifth with a four run rally capped by a two RBI double by Chen Jia.
Chinese Taipei was leading by then 6-0. To stop the come back, Tsai Chia Chen took over for starter Chiu An Ju, who was credited anyway the win.

Chinese Taipei bats gave the team the win in ninth place game

Both teams had qualified for the knock out game winning in previous matches. All of the games of the placement round were played today in Akitsu Stadium.

Bats dominated pitchers in Akitsu and the teams combined a surprising 34 hits and 11 players had multi hit games. Chinese Taipei won, 13-11, in the slugfest thriving on three defensive errors that costed a total six runs to Great Britain.
Lai Meng Ting and Lin Feng Chen, who also hit a home run, had both three RBIs for Chinese Taipei but every starter on the line up got at least one hit.
Lin Su Hua, despite allowing nine hits and four earned runs, picked up the win.

China outscored, 8-2, and outhit, 11-5, Venezuela.
China wasted not time in getting to Venezuela starter Alondra Perez on a couple of hits byLu Ying and Wang Mengyan and didn’t need to look back. Lu Ying added a home run and Li Huan went 3 for 4.
Wang Lan went the distance for the win and allowed only one run.
