Netherlands won today their second game of the tournament and qualified to the Super Round of the tournament, starting on Friday. The host team defeated Spain, 7-0, in five innings, and remain unbeaten in Group A.

The Netherlands pitching staff was dominant against the Spanish lineup, allowing only 1 hit in 5 innings. Ginger De Weert fanned 4 in 3 episodes to claim the win, with no hits and no walks.

In the top of the first inning, catcher Dinet Oosting produced the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to right field, on a great catch by Maria Caicoya. Britt Vonk scored easily from third to put the host team on the board.

In the second episode, Wies Ligtvoet was hit by a pitch, then stole second base and reached third on the same play when catcher Anna Sobrino made a throwing error. Finally crossed the plate with a sacrifice fly to right field by Soclaina Van Gurp.

One inning later, Nehterlands added one more run with the third sacrifice fly for the game, off the bat of Maxime Van Dalen. The clean-up hitter plated Damishah Charles from third, with a fly to center field.

Netherlands scored again in the fourth. With the bases loaded Chantal Versluis singled in Ligtvoet, and Eva Voortman followed with a sac fly to left-center field, to make it 5-0.

In the fifth the orange squad put the score 7-0, with an RBI triple by Jessie Van Aalst plated Van Gurp, who later scored from third when Van Gurp stole second base.

Tomorrow the host team will take on Great Britain at 7 p.m. Both teams are already qualified for the Super Round, so the winner of the game will advance to the next stage with a 1-0 winning record.

Spain will close their participation in the tournament tomorrow, against South Africa, at 1 p.m.
