Rosario gives comeback chance, USA makes World Championship game
07/09/2019

All top pitching prospect Mick Abel could get was one out. Alejandro Rosario survived defensive struggles and gave his National Team 103 pitches over 7.2 innings. The USA will compete for another World Title

The USA erased a five-run deficit and went on to defeat Korea, 8-5. Alejandro Rosario headed to the mound with the USA trailing 2-0 and saw the gap widen in the second. He wouldn’t allow another, earning the win for the USA with 103 pitches over 7.2 innings of work.

The game was moved to field 3 and delayed because of early rain. The USA stranded a couple of runners in the first and Korea got to started Mick Abel in the bottom half of the frame. Kim Jichan tripled, Park Juhong followed with an infield singled and Park Ming added another base hit to put Korea ahead 2-0 and send Abel to the showers.

Reliever Alejandro Rosario got to the end of the inning but got into trouble in the second. Kang Hyeonwoo singled and the USA failed to get the force out at second when Park Siwon bunted. The USA got two outs on a bunt attempt that Lee Juhyeon popped to catcher, but Korea loaded the bases on a base hit by Kim Jichan and a walk and the wind made it impossible to the USA infield to catch a pop fly. Two runs scored and Korea added one more on a base hit by Park Min.

Rosario wouldn’t allow another scoring chance.
The USA began their comeback attempt in the top of the third when Robert Hassell sent a moon-shot over the right-field wall for a two-run home run.

Nolan Mc Lean and pinch hitter singled in the top of the fourth to make it a one-run game and a defensive error helped Aaron Vukovich reach second and become the potential tying run with no one out in the top of the fifth.

Reliever Oh Wonseok couldn’t prevent the USA from tying the game with a couple of ground outs.
The USA took the lead in the top of the sixth. Mc Lean led off with a double and scored on a base hit by back-up third baseman Drew Bowser. The USA tried to squeeze in one more run with the runners at the corner but lost Milan Tolentono at home plate. Bowser still scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Hassell.

The USA scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth and then Mc Lean took the mound. He allowed a leadoff hit to unstoppable Kim Jichan, then cruised to the end of the game.

The USA will defend its World Title in the final
