Nine-run first inning carries Japan past Mexico, towards final vs USA

Japan plated 9 runs and sent 13 batters to the plate in the 1st inning as Japan defeated Mexico 11-0 in four innings. Japan secured the second place in the Super Round and tomorrow will be paying the World Championship Game against USA.

Japan plated 9 runs and sent 13 batters to the plate in the 1st inning as Japan defeated Mexico 11-0 in four innings. Japan secured the second place in the Super Round and tomorrow will be paying the World Championship Game against the USA.

Japan hit seven of its eight hits of the game in the first frame, including a 2-RBI triple to right field by Chiharu Shiraishi.

From the circle, Remi Shingu and Mio Sakamoto limited Mexico to three unscattered hits and faced only 13 hitters in four innings. Shingu claimed the win in 3.1 innings, with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. While Sakamoto allowed 1 hit and fanned 2 in 0.2 innings.

Japan secured the second place in the Super Round and qualified for the World Championship Game against the USA, scheduled on Saturday, 17 August.
