Nicaragua, led by impressive pitching, is still undefeated. Cuba is the other finalist. The third National Team to qualify for the World Cup will be the winner of the bronze medal game.

Nicaragua advanced to the final of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup Qualifier with two impressive shut out wins in the first two games of the Super Round.

The hosts defeated Panama, 4-0, on Thursday, 27 February. They went on to beat Cuba, 6-0, on Friday, 28 February.

Nicaragua showed impressive pitching. Dilmer Mejia and Luis Castillon took care of Cuba. Left-hander Harvin Talavera threw a six-inning one-hit gem against Cuba.

Despite the loss, Cuba will meet again Nicaragua in the final. Cuba would finish with a 3-2 record even with a loss in their third and final game of the Super Round against the Dominican Republic. Colombia and Venezuela could finish with the same record with wins but Cuba would still earn second place thanks to the advantage earned in the head to head games. Cuba defeated Panama, 3-2, and Colombia, 3-0, during group play and Venezuela, 5-0, on Day 1 of the Super Round.

Nicaragua and Cuba earn two of the three spots for the U-23 Baseball World Cup. The third team qualified will be the winner of the third-place game.

The schedule of the third and final day of the Super Round-Saturday, 29 February (all times are local - GMT minus six hours)

11 am Dominican Republic-Cuba
2.30 pm Panama-Venezuela
6.30 pm Colombia-Nicaragua

The final between Nicaragua and Cuba will take place on Sunday at 5pm (local time) with the playoff for third starting at 11am (local time).
