The Americas Qualifier for the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2020 is set to open today (Friday, 21 February) in the Central American countries of Nicaragua and Honduras.
Group A in Managua, Nicaragua: World No. 15 Nicaragua, No. 9 Venezuela, No. 10 Dominican Republic, No. 22 Brazil, No. 43 Peru and No. 65 El Salvador.
Group B in Tegucigalpa, Honduras: World No. 54 Honduras, No. 8 Cuba, No. 13 Panama, No. 14 Colombia, No. 24 Argentina and No. 59 Guatemala.
How to Watch
Games will be live-streamed by Béisbol de América, the official YouTube channel of the Pan-American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) and WBSC’s GameTime Sport YouTube channel.
The match between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela will start Group A action at 10:00 a.m. local time at Dennis Martinez Stadium in Managua.
The other games scheduled on Day 1 in Managua are (all times local):
2 pm: Brazil vs El Salvador at Estadio Nacional
6 pm: Peru vs Nicaragua at Dennis Martinez Stadium
Group B in Honduras kicks off with Colombia and Guatemala at 9 a.m. local time at Hector Sosa Stadium in Tegucigalpa.
The other Group B games scheduled on Day 1 are:
2 pm: Cuba vs Panama at Hector Sosa Stadium
7 pm: Honduras vs Argentina at Hector Sosa Stadium
The full U-23 Baseball World Cup 2020: Americas Qualifier schedule
The Super Round between the top three finishers of each group is scheduled for 27-29 February, in Managua, Nicaragua. The top two teams in the final Super Round standings will compete for the Pan-American U-23 Title and will advance to the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup. The winner of the bronze medal game will claim the 12th and final spot in the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup. The Finals will take place at Dennis Martinez Stadium on Sunday, 1 March.
