"I love USA Baseball and what it stands for, so leading the 2022 team is a true honour," commented Farrell. World No. 5 USA received a Wild Card for the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

USA Baseball announced that RJ Farrell will manage the U-12 National Team at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, scheduled from 29 July to 7 August in Tainan, Taiwan.

Farrell became the U-12 National Team manager in March 2020 after serving three times as an assistant coach. USA Baseball confirmed him in June 2021.

Farrell selected 18 players during the 2021 tryouts and U-12 USA played three exhibition games in November.

USA Baseball also confirmed Farrell's coaching staff, pitching coach Seth Kenny, and assistants Erik Johnson and Tanner Vesely.

"We are thrilled to welcome RJ and his staff back to lead the U-12 National Team as we return to international competition in 2022," said USA Baseball U-12 National Team Programme Director Will Schworer. "RJ has displayed incredible dedication to the growth of young athletes throughout his many years with USA Baseball. We are confident he and the rest of this tremendous staff will provide invaluable leadership and guidance to our team as we go for gold this summer."

"Being named manager again this summer is truly special," said Farrell. "I love USA Baseball and what it stands for, so leading the 2022 team is a true honour. Baseball has afforded me so many amazing experiences, and this opportunity is at the top of them all. I cannot explain how grateful I am that we were able to get the same staff together from last summer, and we look forward to working toward our goal of bringing the gold medal back from Taiwan."

World No. 5 USA received a Wild Card to the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup and became the 10th participating National Team.

Nine of the 12 participating National Teams have qualified for the youth world championship as per the following (in order of continental standings):

  • Americas (4): No. 7 Dominican Republic, No. 4 Mexico, No. 13 Panama and No. 6 Venezuela
  • Asia (3): No. 1 Japan, No. 3 Korea and defending World Champions No. 2 Chinese Taipei
  • Europe (2): No. 14 Czech Republic and No. 17 Italy

The National Teams qualified out of Africa and Oceania will be the respective 11th and 12th participants with the Continental Associations still to confirm their qualification processes.
