The dynamic, open-to-the-public eSport tournament completed its pilot debut on September 30, however the number of participants is already breaking records.

The Virtual Cup, the WBSC’s first own eSport competition, completed the Opening Round with record-breaking participation across four countries.

The Opening Round ran for the entire month of September in bars in Korea, Japan, Mexico and the United States, where a total of 8,146 entries were received to compete in the tournament, making it the most participated WBSC event in history.

After more than 100 teams participated in the Opening Round, 47 teams will compete in the Super Round, which will take place from 22-23 October, to determine the division champions who will advance to the World Finals in Seoul, Korea in November.
