Great Britain took the title in the first-ever European Men’s Slow Pitch Softball Championship, beating Germany in the final. The British team remained undefeated over the five-day tournament and was undoubtedly the best team in the competition.
A total of seven teams joined together in Choceň, Czech Republic, to play the first edition of the Men’s Slow Pitch Softball continental championship: Belgium, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and the Netherlands.
During the final day Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands and Czech Republic played a page playoff. The British team advanced to the final, defeating Germany, 19-8; while Netherlands took the single elimination game against Czech Republic by a score of 28-22.
Then the German squad clinched the win over Netherlands, 23-20, in a very close game to advance to the final game; and finally, Great Britain had no mercy for Germany, scoring in every inning to secure a 20-5 win.
