沿革

In Hungary baseball appeared at the end of 1980 years: people of American, Japanese, Cuban Embassies played irregularly.

October 1991 Győr Dark Horses and Nagykanizsa Ants played the first official Hungarian match.

June 1992 five Clubs established MOBSz, Hungarian National Baseball Federation.

In 1993 four other Clubs joined to the Federation which the CEBA affiliated at their Congress in Stockholm.

In 1994 there were already sixteen Hungarian baseball teams and some softball teams, too.

In 1995 there were already twenty-two teams. One of them could hold one B-pool European  Champion-ship, European Cup of Cup-Winners, another could arrange another one, CEB Cup.

In 1996 there were the first baseball and softball matches of yearly championships of several sports called “Danube Cup” between Austria, Hungary, Slovakia.

In 1997 ESF affiliated the Hungarian National Softball Federation. In 1998 CEB and ESF held their Congres-ses in Hungary (120 delegates from 36 countries) and again Hungary could hold all the three European B-pool championships: European Cup of National Champions, European Cup of Cup-Winners and CEBA Cup.

In 1999 the Hungarian softball teams joined to MOBSz which’s name changed to MOBSSz (Hungarian Nati-onal Baseball and Softball Federation). This year again a Hungarian Club could hold a B-pool European Championship: the European Cup of National Champions, what cup this team won. Another Hungarian team won the bronze medal at A-pool CEBA cup in Pamplona. This year a championship called “Interliga” started between Croatian, Hungarian, Slovenian teams.

In 2000 MOBSSz made registered its homepage “www.baseball.hu”. This year the Hungarian National team won the silver medal at European Championship in Croatia.

In 2001 MOBSSz was working for the next year’s B-pool European Champion-ship what Hungary could hold together with Greece which was preparing for the Olympic Games.

Having held the B-pool European Championship in 2002 MOBSSz had to face with serious financial troubles which had almost tragic impact for future years.

Notwithstanding, in 2005 a new Hungarian Championship started with six teams: juvenile one called "U15".

In 2006 this new championship had already eleven teams. By this year the financial possibilities of MOBSSz were so hard that only the enthusiasm of payers and Clubs, and their money, could maintain the Hungarian baseball and softball. In addition from this year baseball wasn't Olympic sport thus state-support shortened to small fraction of former one. All these financial troubles result Hungarian baseball and softball have been struggling to survive.

Presently there are twenty-two Clubs from which seventeen are active with thirty-eight teams, with 467 players and there are two fields in Budapest and six ones in countryside.
