History

Baseball and softball burst onto the Georgian scene in 1987. A group from  the Atlanta,Georgia YMCA came to Tbilisi to open a YMCA and brought a former MLB player and donated equipment with them. Interest rose quickly and steadily and within 2 years, there were 100 boys  and girls  playing. Both the boys baseball and girls softball teams travelled internationally and performed well in tournaments, with  the boys  team reaching winning the regional

European - put in details of best  boys  and best  girls stories.

2005 - Champion - EMEA Senior - Little League Baseball; Age- 14-16; Males,  Poland;

2005 - Little League  Baseball (Senior League, World Series); Age- 14-16; Males, Maine, USA, Participation in USA World Series  as a Champion of EMEA Senior - Little League Baseball;

2009 - Champion. Tuscany International Baseball Tournament, Italy. Winner of "Mona Lisa  Cup". Age 21, Male; Named in World Regional Top-10 Best Clubs.

Unfortunately, Due to the events of 2008 government support for the sports slowed and completely seized soon after baseball and softball were voted out of the Olympics in 2008.

From  2016 the Government resumes its support to Baseball & Softball. Georgia National Team, as well as various clubs, participated in the tournaments organized by Confederation of European Baseball (CEB). In 2018 Georgian National Team will start its qualification process in Qualifier European Championship C-pool.

After  several years of delays the country resumed organizing children tournaments and championships. The biggest challenge is lack of baseball ground meeting pure baseball standards that would allow full-scale training and holding of official matches. In this respect National Federation requires international support.
