Netherlands cruised past Brazil scoring nine runs off 12 hits to defeat Brazil 9-3 and remain undefeated.

Britt Vonk and Maxime Van Dalen led the Dutch offense as each had one home run and four RBIs in the game.

It took six innings before the game’s only runs were scored as New Zealand put away Chinese Taipei 4-0.

Chinese Taipei threatened to take the early lead as they reached scoring position in the second, third, fourth, and fifth inning, but were unable to capitalize.

In the sixth, New Zealand took control of the game racking up four runs on three hits. Kingsley Avery reached base on a single and was pushed home on three balls hit into play. With two outs, Mikayla Werahiko hit a double to score Hailey Breakwell and Jennifer Feret. Facing two strikes-outs, Katrina Nukunuku singled to score Werahiko before Melanie Gettins popped up to third to end the inning.

It was three up and three down for Chinese Taipei in the bottom of the seventh for New Zealand to earn the 4-0 win.

Japan pushed past Great Britain to stay atop their pool with a 4-2 victory.

Japan wasted no time in getting to work. Yuka Ichiguchi hit a one-out double and was batted in through a Yu Yamamoto home run – her first of the championship.

Great Britain had runners in scoring position in the fourth inning but with two-outs, Sayuri Yamane came through with a strike-out to end the inning. But Japan added another run in the bottom half of the inning. After two straight singles, Natsuko Sugama hit a sacrifice fly to score Yamamoto for the 3-1 lead.

Great Britain got on the board in the fifth inning. Kendyl Scott hit a two-out double and was batted in two pitches later by Sarah Craig, who had a double of her own. But Japan answered back, scoring one run due to a defensive error.

Great Britain tried to tie the game up in the top of the seventh, but was only able to score one run. Amy Moore led off the inning with a double. Chelsea D’Avilar was then brought in to run and advanced to third following a Japan error. Craig then found a hole in the Japanese defense sending D’Avilar home. But Kirsten Mack hit a fly ball to center field for the final out and the 4-2 Japanese win.

The veteran loaded Venezuela shut-out Italy 5-0 for their second win in the Championship Round.

In the second inning, Ana Coscorrosa led off with a double. With two out, Jineth Pimentel hits a two-run shot for the 2-0 lead.

Italy tried to get something going in the fourth inning when Lara Buila hit the game’s second lead-off double. But three straight putouts later, Italy remained scoreless.

Venezuela added two more runs in the fifth. Maria Soto got on base with a one-out single only to be batted in off a Yuruby Alicart home-run.

The final run for Venezuela and the game came in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded, Coscorrosa hits a single through the infield allowing pinch-runner Jocelin Diaz to score. Italy ended the inning with a double play but lost the game 5-0.

USA combined for nine hits as they remain undefeated with a 6-1 win over China.  In their first Championship Round game, the U.S. offense had a strong showing from veteran Michelle Moultrie while plating runs in the second, third and fifth innings en route to the win.

Delanie Gourley got the win in the circle for the U.S., striking out five batters while allowing just three hits over the course of four innings pitched.  Kelly Barnhill entered the circle in the top of the fifth, throwing two scoreless frames with one strikeout and one hit, while Jessica Moore pitched the final inning with three strikeouts and no hits allowed.

China was able to push across one run in the top of the seventh after six scoreless frames.  After Moore issued a strikeout to the first batter of the inning, Dongmei Wei would get on base with a hit-by-pitch.  A defensive miscue put runners on the corner for China with one out before Moore fired back with her second strikeout of the inning.  After a delayed stolen base attempt, pinch-ruuner Zhen Qu at third was able to cross the plate, but another strikeout from Moore ended the game with Team USA earning the 6-1 win.

Mexico scored the game’s only run in the first inning to remain undefeated with a 1-0 win over their Caribbean neighbor, Cuba.

Victoria Vidales stepped up to the plate with two outs in the top of the first inning to hit a solo home run. That is all Mexico needed to defeat Cuba.

Cuba’s Diamela P. Salas singled in the first inning to record the team’s only hit of the game.

Eight players from the South American nation hit safely to get on base, including a triple by Maria Jose Falconi and Maria Garcia and a double by Anelizabeth Torres.

Czech Republic improved their overall record to .500 today with a 6-1 victory over Guatemala.

Guatemala struck first scoring their only run of the game off a Victoria Peckova wild pitch to score Paola Polanco. But Peckova recovered nicely to strikeout the fifth batter in the line-up to end the inning.

It was all Czech Republic from here. In the bottom of the second, the Europeans score two runs off one hit and one error for the 2-1 lead. They added another run in the third inning after Tereza Vickova got on base with a walk and later scored on a pass ball.

Eliska Mlynkova and Barbora Nemrevova both scored in the fifth inning when Denisa Podzimkova hit a two-out double.

The game’s final run came in the sixth inning when Czech Republic had runners on the corners with one-out. Mlynkova hits a single to score Tereza Jakesova for a comfortable 6-1 win.

France provided a second inning beating to Ireland to earn the 11-0 win and the team’s second win in as many days.

France got the bats going early scoring two runs off three hits in the first inning. Eloise Tribolet lead off with a single and later scored on a defensive miscue. Camille Lemaire then hit a single allowing Natalie Glover to score and give France all the runs they needed for win.
