Baseball, softball to be staged at World Masters Games 2017 Auckland

Baseball competitions will be a part of the World Masters Games 2017 in Auckland, New Zealand. The World Masters Games is the premier multi-sport platform for male and female athletes aged 35 and older, and baseball competitions will be staged from 21-30 April 2017 in Auckland.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Baseball and softball competitions will be a part of the World Masters Games 2017 in Auckland, New Zealand.  The World Masters Games is the premier multi-sport platform for male and female athletes aged 35 and older, and the 2017 edition will run from 21-30 April 2017 in Auckland.

There will be three levels of baseball and softball competitions for players and club-teams to enter: A Grade (Competitive), B Grade (Recreational) and Open Grade (55+ years-old).  In the A and B Grades, teams can compete as 35+ or 45+ age-categories.

The bat-and-ball sport at the World Masters Games 2017 will be organised under WBSC international standards, with a game length set at a maximum of 90 minutes.

SOFTBALL REGISTRATION SOARS

With its popularity in New Zealand, the registration for softball has reached capacity, but organisers have created a waiting list to satisfy the intense demand.
