Baseball’s Mike Trout named LA 2016 Sportsman of the Year

Two-time Major League Baseball MVP Mike Trout has been named the 2016 Sportsman of the Year by the Los Angeles Sports Council.

LOS ANGELES – Two-time Major League Baseball MVP Mike Trout has been named the 2016 Sportsman of the Year by the Los Angeles Sports Council.

The Los Angeles Angels superstar, 25, will be honoured at the 12th Annual LA Sports Awards on Monday, 27 February, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. Fox Sports West will broadcast the awards banquet.

LA Sports Awards are presented annually to celebrate the area’s greatest sports moments of the year. Recent Sportsman Award recipients include NBA’s Chris Paul and NHL’s Jonathan Quick.

Los Angeles-born Allyson Felix, who won two gold medals in athletics (track and field) for the U.S. at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, was named LA’s 2016 Sportswoman of the Year.
