Game 24: Mexico’s Paola Acosta comes through in the clutch, upends Chinese Taipei, 4-1

Paola Acosta brought home the winning run in the sixth inning as Mexico hung on to beat Chinese Taipei 4-1 on Tuesday.

Chinese Taipei got the early lead and scored their lone run of the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Yi Yen.

Chia Yang was hot from the plate for Chinese Taipei going 2-3 and scoring one run. She singled in the third inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

But a key sixth-inning rally gave Mexico the lead and the win, tacking on a total of four runs after loading the bases with one out. Karmine Valles hit a ground ball back to the pitcher for a fielder’s choice scoring Ana Lopez. Valles then was replaced by Aylin Gutierrez as a runner. One out later, an illegal pitch allowed Danna Corral to score. Gutierrez was then able to score on a defensive error bringing the score to 4-1.

Mexico relied on Cielo Meza to eat up innings en route to the win. Meza allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Kai Han Yang was charged with the loss. She pitched seven innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

Game 25: Veronika Pecknova leads Czech Republic to 5-0 victory thanks to 16 strikeouts

An outstanding effort by Veronika Pecknova (16 strikeouts; 1 hit) carried Czech Republic to a 5-0 win over Italy on Tuesday at ASA HOF Complex.

Czech Republic got its bats going early, scoring four runs in the first inning to pull ahead of Italy. Apolena Vyborna and Veronika Klimplova got the scoring started after reaching base on a walk and error, respectively. With two outs, the Czechs managed to squeeze out two more runs. Jolana Cermakova singled to center field, allowing Tereza Kubicova and eventually Sabina Vitkova to score, leaving the inning with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Italy showed promise in the fifth with a leadoff single by Sabina Phamova, but she was caught attempting to steal second base to end the inning.

Czech Republic added their final run of the game in the sixth off a Vitkova bunt to allow Nikol Tabackova to score.

Serena Boniardi took the loss for Italy. She worked five innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

Game 26: Japan defeats Great Britain 4-0 to remain undefeated

Yui Sakamoto went 1-2, including a home run in the fifth, sparking Japan to a 4-0 victory over Great Britain on Tuesday at ASA HOF Complex.

Japan stayed on top after taking the lead in the first, scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly by Sakamoto and an RBI single by Haruka Sakuraoka.

Japan pushed across one run in both the fourth and the fifth innings to extend their lead. In the fourth, Japan scored Mizuki Iida on a groundout by Kyouko Ishikawa. In the fifth, Sakamoto connected for a solo homerun bringing the score to 4-0.

Ren Yamada looked sharp in the circle holding Great Britain hitless over four innings, allowing no runs, one walk and one strikeout.

Georgina Corrick was charged with the loss. She pitched six innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.

Game 27: Argentina falls 7-0 at the hands of Canada

Canada defeated Argentina on Tuesday 7-0 at ASA HOF Complex in five innings. Scoring three runs on two singles in the first inning, Canada never surrendered the lead.

In the third, Brielle McCullough hit a sacrifice fly allowing Emma Entzminger to score, bringing the score to 4-0.

Canada scored their final three runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Taylor Lundrigan and a two-run triple by Alisha Welch.

Lundrigan racked up three RBIs on three hits for Canada.

Desirae Villanueva was in control in the circle, who held Argentina hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three.

MoPaula Bidart Razquin was the game’s losing pitcher. In four innings, she walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

Game 28: Colombia outdone by Wang Bei and China, 5-0

Wang Bei went 2-3, including a triple, as China took home a 5-0 victory over Colombia at OGE Energy Field on Tuesday.

China scored all their runs in the sixth on three singles by Shu Quinshuang, Liu Yanmin, and Xie Jiaxin and two triples by Xu Yi and Wang Bei. Four of these runs were scored with two outs. Jalena

Arthur finally ended the nightmare inning for Colombia getting Sun Xun to fly out to center field, but the damage was done.

Tian Wen Xin got the win for China. She pitched three shutout innings, struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Bai Wanbing had an impressive outing in relief against Colombia’s lineup to earn the save. Wanbing held Colombia hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Jalena Arthur was charged with the loss. She pitched six innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.

Game 29: Early lead gives United States victory over Brazil, 16-0

United States captured a 16-0 victory in four innings on Tuesday at OGE Energy Field easily handling Brazil’s pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

In the first inning, Nicole DeWitt connected for a solo home run for the early lead, which turned out to be the only run needed as USA cruised to victory.

DJ Sanders went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for United States. She doubled in the third inning and singled in the second and third innings.

United States’ Paige Lowary kept Brazil off the scoreboard for all four innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout on two hits while striking out five.

Caroline Kamidai lasted two innings for Brazil before being pulled, giving up eight hits and 10 runs.

Game 30: Great pitching leads Puerto Rico past Australia 4-1 in extra innings

An outstanding effort by Meghan Marie King carried Puerto Rico to a 4-1 win over Australia in nine innings on Tuesday at ASA HOF Complex.

Australia had the lead early, scoring its only run on the day in the third inning when Dorinda Stone singled and later scored on an error.

Puerto Rico answered back in the fourth on a solo home run by Shemiah Sanchez to tie the game, 1-1.

After four scoreless innings, Puerto Rico took the lead for good on an RBI single by Elicia Marie D’Orazio. They extended their lead off Elicia Munoz Cardona’s single scoring D’Orazio and Sanchez, ending the inning 4-1.

Thanks to a ninth inning rally, Puerto Rico saw three runs cross the plate on two singles by D’Orazio and Munoz Cardona.

King pitched nine innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits.

Despite the loss, Australia’s Amelia Cudicio dominated Puerto Rico’s batters, giving up three runs and striking out 11.

Game 31: Strong pitching leads Chinese Taipei past Czech Republic 2-0

Czech Republic wasn’t able to score a run off of Chinese Taipei’s Ya Ting Tu during her complete game 2-0 win.

In the third inning, Chinese Taipei scored their first run when Chieh Yu Wu doubled to center field and later scored on an error.

In the sixth inning, Chinese Taipei extended their lead on a Chia Ching Shih RBI single.

Tu was effective in the circle striking out two and allowing no walks and four hits.

Veronika Pecknova had a solid game despite taking the loss. She worked six innings, walked one, struck out 11, and allowed two runs.

Game 32: New Zealand records 5-0 shutout against Argentina

Courtney Gettins did it all for New Zealand during her seven innings of work. She allowed six hits, no walks and struck out eight and also hit a two-run single in the third to lead New Zealand to a 5-0 win over Argentina.

New Zealand increased its lead with two more runs in the fourth. Makayla Mave started the inning with a single, plating Aaria Tawha. That was followed up by Pania Monk’s single, scoring Mave.

MoPaula Bidart Razquin took the loss for Argentina. She pitched 3 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

Game 33: Canada takes out Great Britain with help from Taylor Lundrigan, 4-0

Taylor Lundrigan went 2-3, sparking Canada to a 4-0 victory over Great Britain on Tuesday at ASA HOF Complex. She singled in the third and fifth innings.

Canada never trailed after scoring two runs in the third on an RBI double by Kelsey Jenkins and an RBI single by Emma Entzminger.

In the fifth, Alisha Welch’s single allowed Entzminger and Lundrigan to score, bringing the score to 4-0.

Madison Hope got the win for Canada thanks to three strikeouts on five hits over five shutout innings.

Georgina Corrick was charged with the loss. She pitched five innings, walked two, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.

Game 34: Miscue in ninth inning gives Mexico 6-5 walk-off victory over Italy

A walk-off error from Italy, brought home Maria Marrojo for the winning Mexican run in a 6-5 victory over Italy at ASA HOF Complex on Tuesday.

Italy was hurt by a number of miscues in the field, committing seven errors which led to four unearned runs for Mexico.

In the first inning, Italy jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. A single by Marta Gasparotto scored Erika Piancastelli.

Mexico answered Italy with one run of its own in the first on an error scoring Ana Lopez.

Italy took the back the lead in the third, scoring three runs. Sheldon’s triple later allowed her to score off a Mexican defensive error. Piancastelli was driven in off a Teresa Cernecca sacrifice fly. But another defensive error led to Mariel Bertossi and Marta Gasparotto to score, bringing the score to 5-1.

In the bottom of the inning, Mexico scored again on an error, bringing home Danna Corral.

Mexico tied the game up in the sixth inning, scoring three runs. Marrojo hit a one-out single to start the inning. She was driven in by Paola Acosta’s triple. Two batters later, Acosta was hit home off the bat of Rossy Lizarraga. With two outs and runners on second and third, Marcela Terrazas singled to score Lopez.

In the bottom of the ninth, an unfortunate Italian defensive error allowed Karmine Valles to score, giving Mexico the 6-5 win.

Yeraldin Carrion had an impressive outing against Italy’s lineup. Italy managed just two hits off of the Mexico’s pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked five and struck out 12 during her nine innings of work.

Laura Bigatton was charged with the loss. She pitched for one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

Game 35: United States seize victory thanks to late triple, drop Puerto Rico 7-2

United States outlasted Puerto Rico on Tuesday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 7-2 win at OGE Energy Field.

The top of the first saw Puerto Rico take an early lead, 1-0. Elicia Marie D’Orazio doubled to ignite Puerto Rico’s offense.

It didn’t take long for United States to answer as it scored one run of its own in the first. United States scored on a sacrifice fly by Nicole DeWitt .

United States took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. A three-run triple by Alyssa Palomino off Giovanna Watts scored Sydney Romero, Jenna Lilley and Madilyn Nickles. Palomino was later driven in by DJ Sanders for the fourth and final run of the inning.

United States brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, United States scored on an RBI single by Sanders, bringing home Palomino. In the sixth, Romero singled to left field, scoring DeWitt.

Johanna Grauer kept contact to a minimum, striking out 15 Puerto Rico batters. Grauer allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk over seven innings.

Korina Rosario ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just two innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

Game 36: Big hitting performance carries Australia past Brazil 10-0

An exceptional effort by Georgia Blair spurred Australia to a 10-0 win in four innings over Brazil on Tuesday at ASA HOF Complex.

Ten runs in the opening three innings allowed Australia to easily put away Brazil.

Australia scored four runs off a two-run home run by Blair, a solo home run by Dorinda Stone, and an RBI single by Mikayla Gregory in the first inning.

In the second inning, a two-run home run by Alisha Prybyszczuk and a two-run home run by Blair put Australia put up 8-0.

In the third inning, Australia put the game out of reach scoring two more runs.

Three pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for Australia.

Chantelle Ladner brought the heat against Brazil during her outing holding Brazil hitless over two innings, walking no one and striking out five.

Fernanda Shiroma was charged with the loss. She lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
