Denmark Softball National Championship: Vikings crowned Women’s Champion; Bulls Men’s Champion

Facing tough competition, the Vikings claimed the 2016 Denmark Women’s Softball National Championship over the Barracudas. In a best-of-three game series, the Vikings won both games 7-3 and 7-4.

BROENDBY, Denmark — Facing tough competition, the Vikings claimed the 2016 Denmark Women’s Softball National Championship over the Barracudas. In a best-of-three game series, the Vikings won both games 7-3 and 7-4.

On the men’s side, it took a “rubber” match (Game 3) to crown the National Champion. The Hurricanes took the first game, 1-0. But in the second game, the Bulls won 4-3, forcing a third and final game. In keeping with the first two games, the Hurricanes and Bulls remained close competitors. At the end of the seven regulation innings, the game was tied at 2-2. However, the Bulls prevailed in extra innings to earn the 2016 National Champions title.

Best Batter: Nana Rasmussen (Barracudas) and Thomas Clausen (Bulls)
Best Pitcher: Jordan-Leigh Koni (Vikings) and Kim Hansen (Bulls)
MVP: Sabrina Nihøj (Vikings) and Frode Lindtner (Hurricanes)
