Four advance to final day of WBSC Co-Ed Slow Pitch World Cup

PLANT CITY, FL, USA – Following a full day of games, the final four teams have been determined for the last day of the playoffs at the 2017 WBSC Co-Ed Slow Pitch World Cup. United States, Bahamas, Canada, and Great Britain have all advanced to the final day.

The United States, who finished the round robin phase in third, defeated Turks and Caicos Islands 26-5 and Great Britain 21-5 to be the first team to advance. Bahamas — completed the round robin in fourth place — defeated Curacao 14-13 and Canada 19-13 to play another day.

The two Americas team will now face off tomorrow at 9:30am with the winner advancing to the Gold Medal game, while the loser will play in the Bronze Medal game.

Canada completed the round robin in second place. In the playoffs, they defeated Bulgaria 24-10, but lost to the Bahamas 13-19 before defeating Turks and Caicos Islands 30-6 in a must-win game.  Great Britain completed the round robin with the top seed but in the playoffs lost to the United States 5-21 before defeating Bulgaria 14-8 in their win-or-go-home game.

The two Commonwealth nations will play each other at 11:00am tomorrow with the winner advancing to the Bronze Medal game.

The Gold Medal game will take place at 3:00pm, preceded by the Bronze Medal game at 1:00pm.

The Bahamas is the current two-time champion, going undefeated in 2015 and defeating Great Britain in 2016.

Co-ed slow pitch features both male and female athletes playing together alongside one another on the field.

Each team is allowed a maximum of 20 players, with no fewer than five being of one gender.
