TAINAN, Taiwan — Japan shut out the Czech Republic, 13-0, at Tainan Municipal Stadium to open the IV WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017.

TAINAN, Taiwan — Japan shut out the Czech Republic, 13-0, at Tainan Municipal Stadium to open the IV WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017.

Right fielder Reiji Toi went 3-for-3 and blasted a grand slam in the top of the third inning, which allowed Japan to jump to an early 8-0 lead.Japan starting pitcher Shuta Yamada threw three perfect innings with four strikeouts to earn the win.

Mexico 25-0 South Africa

Mexico scored 25 runs on 21 hits in a shutout victory over South Africa.

Center Fiedler Juan Pablo Tirado went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI while leadoff hitter Sergio Gastelum hit two home runs for Mexico.
