No. 16 Brazil beats No. 27 Argentina to capture South American Baseball Championship 2016

The Men’s National Baseball Team of Brazil defeated host Argentina, 10-4, in the final of the XV South American Baseball Championship at Estádio Nacional de Beisbol de Ezeiza. Brazil has now captured the South American title a leading seven times.

BUENOS AIRES – The Men’s National Baseball Team of Brazil defeated host Argentina, 10-4, in the final of the XV South American Baseball Championship at Estádio Nacional de Beisbol de Ezeiza.  Brazil has now captured the South American title a leading seven times.

Brazil, currently ranked No. 16 in the world, went undefeated (7-0) in the six-nation battle for the South American crown, including a victory over No. 17 Colombia and two victories over No. 27 Argentina.

In the semi-finals, Argentina surprised defending champion Colombia with a 12-9 win, while Brazil shut down No. 48 Peru, 12-0.

Colombia defeated Peru, 10-0, in the battle for third-best on the continent.

In the 5th/6th Place contest, No. 64 Chile defeated No. 63 Bolivia, 9-1.

The 20-game continental championship in Buenos Aires, which has an impact on the WBSC Baseball World Rankings, was hosted by the Argentina Baseball Federation in conjunction with the South American Baseball Confederation (CONSUBE).
