Road to U-12 Baseball World Cup: Panama U-12 national champions crowned

PANAMA CITY, Panama — Top youth players and teams from across Panama took part in the country’s recent U-12 National Baseball Championship, where the team from West Panama captured the national crown.

PANAMA CITY, Panama — Top youth players and teams from across Panama took part in the country’s recent U-12 National Baseball Championship, where the team from West Panama captured the national crown.

Officials from the Panamanian Baseball Federation (Fedebeis) also used the national championship to help identify the best 11- and 12-year-old players in the country.

Fedebeis President Benicio Robinson named 30 candidates in consideration to play on Panama’s U-12 National Team that will head to Tainan, Taiwan, and compete for the world title at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017 this July/August.

Nations can carry a roster of 18 of their best players for the U-12 Baseball World Cup.

Panama finished in 5th Place at the U-12 Americas (Pan-Am) Championship 2016, but was given a wild card into the U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017.

Panama is currently No. 14 in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings and will open against No. 3 Korea in the U-12 Baseball World Cup on 28 July.
