IWAKI, Japan – Ten players representing seven nations were selected to the U-15 All-World Team at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016.
Cuba, winners of the U-15 Baseball World Cup in Iwaki, had three players named to the planet’s most elite and honorary U-15 squad, while second-place finishers Japan had two players nominated.
The U-15 All-World Line-Up
Infield: C Jared Guerrero (MEX), 1b Justin Campbell (USA), 2b Yumeto Taguchi (JPN), 3b Malcom Nunez (CUB) and SS Daniel Castillo (CUB).
Outfield: Jui Wen Chien (TPE), Kenji Ino (JPN) and Kyunpyo Ko (Kor)
Starting Pitcher: Livian Chaviano (CUB)
Relief pitcher: Miguel Rondon (VEN)
Cuba National Team third baseman Nunez led all hitters in Iwaki, going 19-for-31 (.613) and swiped a tournament-leading seven stolen bases (7-for-7), and also made several highlights with the glove.
Second baseman Taguchi was named the Outstanding Defensive Player of the III WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup.
Right fielder of the Japanese National Team Ino scored the most runs in Iwaki (13) and hit the only home run that went over the fence.
