SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — A new day of the Women’s Pan American Championship is in the records, with no interruptions due to rain and a great ambient in the fields.

Brazil defeated Argentina by 7-6 in nine innings in the best game of the tournament so far. Both teams played a great match in the field 2 of Centro Olimpico Juan Pablo Duarte, in an even game that could have been won by either team. The game was tied until the bottom of the ninth inning. Barba Woll sacrificed to advance the runner to third, and Samira Tanaka hit a sac fly to center field to score Martha Murasawa, in a very close play in home plate.

Canada defeated Guatemala by 4-0, with a stellar performance by Karissa Hovinga, who pitched a no hitter for the red and white team. In the night, the Canadians beat Mexico 4-3.

In the early morning, Curacao reached their first win in the tournament beating Colombia by 3-1. Genevieve Hariquez, Jeannevian Kinburn and Lee Ann Caanberg scored for the winning team, while Briana Castro did it for Colombia. The winner of the game was Shanna Te Vrede who pitched the complete game, with 4 hits and 1 run, delivering 7 walks and 5 strikeouts. The loser for the South American team was Jordan Llinas, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in seven innings of work. With this result, the record of Curacao is 1-1, while Colombia lost their two games.

Meanwhile, in field 1, Cuba continued their winning streak defeating Aruba by 10-0, in four innings of play. Marlene Bubaire claimed the win pitching three innings, with a line of 2 hits, 1 walk and 3 Ks. Ivania Buitrago was charged with the loss, recording 6 runs, 2 walks and 1 strikeout, in 2.1 innings. Cuba is still undefeated in the tournament, with two wins; while Panama has no wins after three games.

With a solid and strong performance, Argentina beat Guatemala by 10-0, to add their second consecutive win of the event. Tamara Togni pitched four shut-out innings for the victory, while Magali Frezzotti hit a two run shot to right field in the third inning.

On the field 2, Venezuela claimed their second win of the tournament, beating Aruba by 6-1. Anyibel Ramirez recorded the win and Ana Coscorrosa contributed with a two-run homer. The Vinotinto team is still unbeaten in the event with two wins.

In the other games of the day, Dominican Republic beat Peru by 10-0; Venezuela won 6-1 against Aruba; Brazil Beat Bahamas 7-1; Mexico 17-0 against British Virgin Islands; Puerto Rico 12-0 over El Salvador and USA defeated Peru by 16-0.
