TOKYO – The top-ranked Samurai Japan National Team and No. 3 Korea will meet at the Tokyo Dome Sunday in the Final of the inaugural WBSC-sanctioned Asia Professional Baseball Championship. Japan finished first in the preliminary round to earn “home team” status for the championship game.

Japan will give the ball to left-handed pitcher Kazuto Taguchi (Yomiuri Giants – NPB), while Korea will counter with righty Sewoong Park (Lotte Giants – KBO).

In their opening contest, Japan came from behind to defeat Korea, 8-7, in 10 innings.

Prize Money

The APBC 2017 champion will receive 20,000,000 JPY ($US 178,395) in prize money and the 2nd Place team will take home 5,000,000 JPY ($US 44,600).
