Tony Baldwin, Cindy Ball-Malone and Tim Walton will bring a wealth of experience to a U.S. roster that will look to clinch an unprecedented three-peat at the U-19 World Cup

World No. 1 USA announced the 2019 USA Softball U-19 Women’s National assistant coaches that will join Head Coach Heather Tarr and complete the coaching staff. Tony Baldwin, Cindy Ball-Malone and Tim Walton will bring a wealth of experience to a U.S. roster that will look to clinch an unprecedented three-peat at the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup, to be held in Irvine, California, USA, from 11-17 August, 2019.

This will be the first stint with the USA Softball U-19 Women’s National Team for both Baldwin and Ball-Malone while Walton previously served as an Assistant Coach for the 2015 roster. Tarr had been named Head Coach back in February.

Currently USA rides a 19-game winning streak at Junior Women’s Softball World Championships. USA last lost at this level back in 2013, in Brampton, Canada, when Japan defeated them in the final of the tournament, 4-0, to clinch the world title. Then, USA went undefeated to claim their fifth and sixth world championships in 2015 and 2017, in Oklahoma City and Clearwater respectively, as host team.

Back in January USA Softball named a 20-player preliminary roster for the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup. “The 2019 19-Under team was selected based on dominant pitching, defense and offense,” said Head Coach Heather Tarr.  “The team will be led by the current college freshmen in the NCAA. We are excited to begin our journey together in pursuit of the Gold Medal this August in Irvine, California”.
