Six former softball national team athletes – five with Olympic experience – started an initiative on 12 September called “Sueño Tricolor, Bet on the Future” to promote softball in all twenty-four states within Venezuela.

With the support of the Sport Ministry and Carlos Guillen Baseball Academy, the project has visited four states already – Delta Amacuro, Merida, Bolivar, and Apure.

Led by WBSC Board Member, Maria Soto, the group includes Yuruby Alicart, Denisse Fuenmayor, Geraldine Puertas, Yaicey Sojo, and Anyibel Ramirez.

The goal of the project is to promote Softball and bring the sport to every state in Venezuela. Working through each state softball association, girls 9 years old and older are encouraged to attend free clinics put on by the group of elite athletes.

Once the sport has been introduced to all twenty-four states, the initiative will then work to integrate within the school system.
