LOS ANGELES — Puerto Rico is heading back to the championship contest of the World Baseball Classic.
Carlos Correa scored the winning run in the 11th inning on a sacrifice-fly off the bat of Eddie Rosario to give No. 12 Puerto Rico a 4-3 win over No. 9 Netherlands in front of 24,865 fans at Dodger Stadium.
Edwin Diaz recorded the semi-final win for Puerto Rico after throwing two shutout innings with three strikeouts, while Loek Van Mil took the loss for the Netherlands.
Both clubs traded 2-run home runs in the first inning with Wladimir Balentien giving the Netherlands an early 2-0 lead before Carlos Correa answered back with a 2-run shot for Puerto Rico in the bottom of the inning.
Undefeated Puerto Rico will await the winner of the No. 1 Japan versus No. 2 United States semi-final.
