WBSC, Twitter to Amplify Online Media Buzz for U-23 Baseball World Cup 2016

The World Baseball Softball Confederation today announced that Twitter will be the Official Social Media Platform for the inaugural WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup® 2016, which opens tomorrow (Friday, 28 October) and runs to Sunday, 6 November.

MONTERREY, Mexico – The World Baseball Softball Confederation today announced that iconic social media giant Twitter will be the Official Social Media Platform for the inaugural WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup® 2016, which opens tomorrow (Friday, 28 October) and runs to Sunday, 6 November.

As the Official Social Media Platform, Twitter’s full suite of platform tools and applications, including the exclusive Twitter Challenger autograph selfie-app, SnappyTV, Periscope and Vine, will be brought to the U-23 Baseball World Cup in Monterrey to expand and enhance real-time coverage and amplify online media volume.

Twitter-owned SnappyTV will be integrated for sharing video highlights from live broadcasts, in cooperation with WBSC’s broadcast partners, in near real-time to stimulate online buzz and to drive audiences to the full on-air broadcast.

WBSC and Twitter first partnered on the PREMIER12® 2015 global flagship event last November in Japan and Taiwan, which generated top ratings and a massive online media buzz in the host nations, and was Japan and Taiwan’s most-watched major sports event in 2015.
