SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The second day of the IX Women’s Pan American Championship was partially cancelled due to rain. Only two games were completed, with triumphs by USA and Bahamas.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The second day of the IX Women’s Pan American Championship was partially cancelled due to rain. Only two games were completed, with triumphs by USA and Bahamas.

USA defeated Curacao 14-0 in the first game of the morning, in only four innings. USA combined for 11 hits in their early morning match-up, including home runs from Valerie Arioto and Ali Aguilar, while Ally Carda and Danielle O’Toole combined for a no-hitter.

In the other game of the early morning, Bahamas got their first win of the tournament, defeating Panama by 6-5. The Caribbean team recovered from a deficit of 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run RBI single by Johnson, to plate Curry and Russell, claiming the walk-off win. The winning pitcher was Sonya Miller, while the loss went to Olaisa Perez.

In the second turn, Puerto Rico was facing Curacao; while Peru was playing against Guatemala, but both games must be cancelled due to rain. The Technical Commission decided to cancel all the remaining games of today.
