REYNOSA, Mexico – No. 13 Nicaragua upset No. 6 Mexico, 4-0, to win the U-10 Pan American Baseball Championship and be crowned U-10 champions of the Americas for a second consecutive year, and the first under new female manager Ángelica Rivera.

Nicaragua U-10 National Team starting pitcher Wilfredo Centeno went 4.1 scoreless innings to earn the win and was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.

The highest-ranked nation in the tournament, Mexico, had entered the Final undefeated (W7-L0), including a 4-3 victory over Nicaragua in the Opening Round.

In the bronze medal match-up, No. 15 Panama scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to claim a 7-6 walk-off victory over No. 16 Dominican Republic.

The Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) championship is only U-10 National Team competition in sports, while the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup is the youngest age-category World Cup.
