Italy won the first game of its WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier, defeating 7-0 Botswana in 5 innings. Italian pitchers Greta Cecchetti and Ilaria Cacciamani combined for a No-Hitter, with 13 strike outs and only one hit by pitch allowed.

Italy scored the first runs of the game in third inning against Onnetse Seth, Botswana starting pitcher. Amanda Fama singled and Laura Vigna hit an inside the park home run for the 2-0 lead. Then, Italy scored the 3-0 thanks to some errors made by Botswana defense.

In the next inning, Italy extended its lead to 7-0, thanks to 4 hits, including two extra-bases by Amanda Fama (triple) and Emily Carosone (double).

Botswana offense couldn’t anything against Italian pitchers. Greta Cecchetti and Ilaria Cacciamani, in fact, combined for a No Hitter in 5 innings, with 13 strike outs and only one hit by pitch allowed.

Tomorrow, Botswana will take on France at 10.00, while Italy will face Czech Republic at 16.00.
