USA Baseball announced on Friday the coaching staff for the U-15 National Team. Troy Cameron will serve as the manager. Manny Crespo, Jared Halpert and Karsten Whitson will join as his assistant coaches.
The U-15 USA Baseball National Team will compete in the U-15 Pan American Championship 2019, to be played in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The tournament is a qualifier to the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2020.
“We have had the opportunity to watch these coaches positively impact our national team programmes for years,” commented USA Baseball Executive Director/CEO Paul Seiler, a WBSC Executive Board Member “and we are confident that under the guidance of Troy and his staff, the 15U National Team will contend for a fifth-consecutive gold medal in the Pan-American Championships and qualify for the 2020 WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup.”
Troy Cameron served in 2018 as the field coordinator for the U-14 National Team Development Programme (NTDP). He is in his seventh season as the head coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida).
Manny Crespo helped the USA win their first ever U-15 World Cup as an assistant coach in 2018. He is currently the head coach at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami, Florida.
Jared Halpert, currently in his fourth season at the helm of the Harvard-Westlake School (Studio City, California) baseball programme, will make his National Team coaching debut.
Karsten Whitson, the 2018 USA Baseball Volunteer Coach of the Year, is an assistant coach at Pensacola State College in Florida. He will also make his National Team coaching debut.
