After the completion of the Opening Round, Canada (2-0), Mexico (2-0), Puerto Rico (1-1), Brazil (1-1), Cuba (0-2) and Venezuela (0-2) advance to the Super Round of the WBSC Softball Americas Qualifier.

Puerto Rico 10-0 Cuba

Puerto Rico used a 9-run first inning to beat Cuba, 10-0, and secure the second place in Group A. Cuba finished the Opening Round third place. The game came to an end in the bottom of the fourth when Jenna Cozza hit a walk-off home run to center field.

Canada closes perfect

Host Canada closed today the Opening Round with a four-inning win over Bahamas, 18-0, and advanced undefeated to the Super Round as the winner of Group A. Jenna Caira pitched four innings allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk. Canada scored four runs in the first, exploded with 10 in the third and closed with four more in the fourth episode.

Peru 0-1 Venezuela

In a win-or-go-home game, Venezuela claimed the win over Peru, 1-0, and advanced to the Super Round of the WBSC Softball Americas Qualifier. Michelle Floyd pitched a complete-game shutout and drove in the only run of the game, a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh to secure the third place in Group B.

Mexico 10-0 Brazil

In the last game of the day Mexico sealed Group B’s first place with a four-inning win over Brazil by a score of 10-0. A 3-run homer by Britanny Cervantes to left field in the first inning set the tone of the game, with Mexico scoring multiple runs in the first three episodes.
