SURREY, British Columbia, Canada — 29 August — The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today announced the Super Round schedule for the WBSC Softball Americas Qualifier in Surrey, Canada. The top three teams of each group have advanced to the Super Round and will compete for two tickets to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

World No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Puerto Rico and No. 17 Cuba claimed Group A’s three available places in the Super Round. Canada went undefeated to win the group, Puerto Rico ended second and Cuba finished at third place.

In Group B No. 5 Mexico, No. 14 Brazil and No. 16 Venezuela have made the Super Round. Mexico won the group with perfect record, while Brazil placed second and Venezuela third.

No. 19 Dominican Republic, No. 18 Guatemala, No. 20 Peru and No. 39 Bahamas couldn’t make the Super Round and ended their participation at the Olympic qualifier.

The Super Round kicks off Friday with Mexico playing home against Puerto Rico, Canada facing off Venezuela and Brazil taking on Cuba.

The top two nations after the Super Round will earn a berth at the historic softball’s return to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. Only results between the six qualified nations (including matches in the Opening Round) count toward the final Super Round standings.

CBC Sports’ weekly broadcast staple Road to the Olympic Games will air the game between the top two seeded teams in the Super Round, Canada and Mexico, on 31 August at 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET on CBC. In addition, CBC Sports will exclusively live-stream all 9 Super Round games of the tournament in the Canadian territory via and the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices.

In the United States FloSports will offer every game of the Super Round to its subscribers.

All nine games of the Super Round will be available to global audiences via the WBSC OTT platform, Game Time.
