The COVID-19 pandemic forced the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) to cancel and postpone many events and tournaments in 2020 and 2021. Included among these postponements was the WBSC Elective Congress, which was originally scheduled in 2021 but was deferred to 2022. Considering the uncertainty of this time and the need to be adaptable to these new circumstances, the WBSC used the opportunity of an Extraordinary Congress to update its Statutes in order to have the possibility to hold hybrid or virtual congresses, particularly if travel restrictions continue to affect our Members.
