18U BWC: Panama edges past Venezuela to finish 7th

Seoul (Korea). Panama is finishing the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship in seventh place after beating Venezuela 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Gueui Stadium in Seoul, Korea. A two-run triple by Anthony Diaz in the bottom of the sixth gave Panama the decisive lead to prevail in the game. Venezuela was up in front twice, but couldn’t close it out.

18U BWC: Japan wins Asian Clash at MokdongSeoul (Korea)

Seoul (Korea). The Gold Medal Game at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship will be played without host Korea. They lost the highly anticipated duel against arch rival Japan on Thursday evening by a score of 2-4. In presence of KBO Commissioner Koo Bon-neung, who also threw out the first pitch prior to the game, a four-run sixth inning decided effectively the game.

Seoul (Korea). The XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship continued under much improved weather conditions and allowed organizers to complete the first round with two games. Team USA defeated Australia behind a strong start of Ryan Olson 6-2 and Canada crushed Panama 10-1, scoring eight of the ten runs in the first four innings.

Panama has been for sure one of the surprises at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship in Seoul, so far, but could not surprise Canada in the in-or-out game on Wednesday morning at Mokdong Stadium. The North-Americans took an immediate lead scoring twice in the first inning and cruised easy through the game until the final 10-1 that granted them access to the medal-awarding Group C.

18U BWC: Chinese Taipei opens 2nd Round with Extra-Inning Win

Seoul (Korea). Defending champion Chinese Taipei made a statement at the start of the second round, defeating Korea with 7-3 in ten innings at Jamsil Stadium on Wednesday evening. The host had just tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. But Chinese Taipei used three hits in the top of the tenth to plate four runs with the IBAF Extra Inning Rule in effect to win the game.
