18U BWC: Canada survives Colombian Rally for third Second Round Win

Seoul (Korea). After Colombia stunned three favorites in a row with Venezuela, Korea and Japan, their run at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship was stopped by Canada on Thursday morning. The Maple Leafs nearly blew a 7-0 lead en route to a 10-6 victory at Mokdong Stadium. Canada is now 3-1 in the second round after winning three games in 24 hours. Colombia dropped to 2-2.

Rain Delays for Afternoon Games in Seoul

Opening day at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship on August 30 was rained out completely and the games were re-scheduled for September 4. Today is that Tuesday and it’s raining again in Seoul, Korea. The first two games, set to start at 10am, Japan-Czech Republic and Venezuela-Colombia are currently in a rain delay. 18U BWC: Japan shuts out Czech Republic in rain-shortened Shutout

Seoul (Korea). Following a two-hour delay due to rain, Japan shut out the Czech Republic 7-0 on Tuesday morning, finishing first-round play with a 4-1 record. The game was called midway through the bottom of the fifth inning after another rain delay. Japan moves up to the second round, while the Czech team has to settle for a classification game.

18U BWC: Colombia also stuns Venezuela

Seoul (Korea). Colombia carried all of their momentum over from Monday night’s upset over Korea into their next game on the following morning. They came out swinging the bats well after a one-hour rain delay, scoring three runs in the top of the first en route to a 7-2 stunner over Venezuela. With the win they improved to 3-2 and pushed their South American opponents (2-3) out of the second round.

Seoul (Korea). Canada has a thing for thrilling games at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship. After three matches ending in walk-off style, they barely edged out the Czech Republic on Monday morning to improve to 3-1 in Group B play. Two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning broke the tie and decided the outcome. The Czech team remains winless in the tournament.

18U BWC: Australia slams past Netherlands

Seoul (Korea). A grand slam in the third inning gave Australia an early lead en route to an 8-1 win over the Netherlands on Monday morning at Mokdong Stadium. Two runs in the sixth and ninth provided some insurance against a Dutch team, which remains winless in the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship. Australia improved to 2-2 in Group A, keeping their chances alive to reach the final round.

18U BWC: Japan cruises safely against Italy

Seoul (Korea) – Nothing to do for Italy in the fourth day of play in the 18U Baseball World Championship in Seoul, the lineup of the Azzurri surrendered to the mound of Japan, with starter Yu Kambara in the head, who struck out eleven in seven innings of job on the mound, and got a 7-1 victory in the penultimate game of the first round.
