Cuba remains undefeated in the 15U Baseball World Championship with a sound 11-5 victory against Venezuela and clinches access to Sunday’s gold medal game.

Cuba remains undefeated in the 15U Baseball World Championship with a sound 11-5 victory against Venezuela and clinches access to Sunday’s gold medal game.

Before a good crowd, Cuban starter Edgar Escobar led the team with great pitching for 8 innings, while his lineup was able to take an immediate lead, scoring 4 runs between first and third.

Venezuela made it a 1-run game in the fourth, with 3 hits (a double by pinch hitter Andrade) and a walk, but Cuba also scored 3 times in the sixth, with 3 hits (a triple by Noroña) and two wild pitches and a hit by pitch by the third pitcher that Venezuela sent on the mound, Nelson Hernandez.

Cuba went out of reach scoring once in the seventh and 3 runs in the eighth, while Venezuela scored twice between eighth and ninth, to set the final score to 11-5.
