Mexico’s Sur Baja California capital awarded 2014 U15 Baseball World Cup

12 National Teams to participate in II U15 Baseball World Cup in La Paz

LAUSANNE (SUI) – The hosting rights for the second U15 Baseball World Cup in 2014 have been awarded to the Mexican city of La Paz, in Sur Baja California, in a bid assembled by the Mexican Baseball Federation (FEMEBE) in collaboration with the Mexican state of Sur Baja California and the municipality of La Paz.

12 national teams will come together for the U15 Baseball World Cup, which will take shape in the form of a double round-robin over ten days, in the tourist city that sits on the Sea of Cortez.

Two international standard competition venues will be used for the U15 world championship, with opening and closing ceremonies and medal matches centering around La Paz’s completely renovated and modernised Arturo C. Nahl Stadium, which was re-inaugurated last February.

FEMEBE’s successful bid marks the second consecutive occasion in which the U15 Baseball World Cup will be celebrated in Mexico.

Fifteen national selections (in order of final standings: 1. VEN, 2. CUB , 3. TPE, 4. MEX, 5. BRA, 6. NCA, 7. HON, 8. ARG, 9. ARU, 10. ITA, 11. GER, 12. HKG, 13. UKR, 14. LTU, 15. INA) gathered for the inaugural U15 Baseball World Cup that was staged in Chihuahua, Mexico in 2012.

The first edition of U15 Baseball World Cup marked historic precedents for both Indonesia and Ukraine, as it was the first-ever entrance to a baseball world championship for each of the two countries.
