The International Olympic Committee’s historic decision in Rio De Janeiro for baseball and softball to make a comeback to the Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020 was received with excitement and enthusiasm from the 12 nations at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016 Iwaki.

IWAKI, Japan – The International Olympic Committee’s historic decision in Rio De Janeiro for baseball and softball to make a comeback to the Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020 was received with excitement and enthusiasm from the 12 nations at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016 Iwaki.

After Cuba had been awarded the world championship trophy and gold medals, and after the U-15 All-World 2016 Team had been named, a drone floated over the Closing Ceremony,  capturing the top 240 U-15 players (born 2001-2003) in the world cheering and appreciating that their sport will be Olympic in 2020.

WBSC Executive Director Michael Schmidt told the next generation of stars, “There is no higher honour in baseball than to represent your country and your sport in the Olympic Games.”

The aerial footage and the See You in 2020 banner were coordinated under the patronage of Iwaki City.
