World No. 13 Australia unveils roster for WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016

Baseball Australia announced its selection of the nation’s best 20 players who will compete on behalf of world No. 13 Australia in the III WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016, which opens Friday, 29 July, in Iwaki, Japan. Baseball Australia’s talent search resulted in players being selected from five of the nation’s six states.

SYDNEY — Baseball Australia announced its selection of the nation’s best 20 players who will compete on behalf of world No. 13 Australia in the III WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016, which opens Friday, 29 July, in Iwaki, Japan.  Baseball Australia’s talent search resulted in players being selected from five of the nation’s six states. Australia’s most elite U-15 team will be lead by manager Andrew Kyle.

Regarding the Opening Round, Kyle said: “We have a tough task ahead of us facing three of the top seven nations.  It is a fantastic opportunity for these young athletes who will have a chance to take on the best teams in the world, including host nation Japan in [Australia’s] opening game.”

Australia will being the #U15WorldCup in Group A, along with world No. 1 Japan, No. 4 Korea, No. 5 Cuba,  No. 16 Czech Republic and No. 20 Colombia. The top three teams in the group will advance.

 

AUSTRALIA - Opening Round Schedule U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016

 

The U-15 Baseball World Cup, which is the world’s highest level of competition for players aged 13- to 15-years-old, opens Friday, 29 July.  Twelve nations are gathering the best players in their respective countries to compete For the Title of World Champion in Iwaki.

Australia finished 10th at the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2014 in Mazatlan, Mexico.
