Super Round schedule announced for LG Presents WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2016

The Super Round schedule of the LG Presents WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup® 2016 was announced today, following three days and 18 games of Opening Round action at the new Hyundai-Gijang Dream Ballpark. The top two nations from each group have advanced past the Opening Round.

GIJANG, Korea — The Super Round schedule of the LG Presents WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup® 2016 was announced today, following three days and 18 games of Opening Round action at the new Hyundai-Gijang Dream Ballpark. The top two nations from each group have advanced past the Opening Round.

The Super Round will consist of four games in four days for each of the six elite National Teams that have advanced from the Opening Round.

It will be an exciting start to the Super Round, as rivals Chinese Taipei and host Korea will open the action tomorrow at 09:30 (all times local – KST), while the two lone undefeated nations in Gijang — World No. 1 Japan and Venezuela — will collide at 14:00. Australia and Canada will meet at 19:00 in a rematch of the bronze medal final of the Women’s Baseball World Cup 2014, which was won by Australia, 3-2.

 

Super day 1

 

Wins/Losses against nations eliminated in the Opening Round will not carry into the Super Round. Chinese Taipei, Japan and Venezuela will have a record of W1-L0, while Australia, Canada and Korea will enter the Super Round with a record of W0-L1.

 

sUPER ROUND STANDINGS

 

In the Consolation Round, Cuba, Pakistan, Netherlands, India, United States and Hong Kong will compete for 7th to 12 Place.

The video of Pakistan’s National Women’s Baseball Team’s historic first-ever out in a Women’s Baseball World Cup generated headlines and has been seen over 275k times on WBSC’s official social media platforms.

Social media posts of the Opening Round in Gijang have created a buzz online, with over 7 million impressions from @WBSC on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, while having generated national headlines among participating nations.
