Six nations remain undefeated after three days of action at the WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship

CLEARWATER, FL, USA – After three full days of competition at the WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship, the playoff picture is starting to come together.

CLEARWATER, FL, USA – After three full days of competition at the WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship, the playoff picture is starting to come together. Nations are battling to finish among the top two in their respective pools to advance into the championship round in the quest For the Title of World Champion.

Pool A is still too close to call with four teams in the hunt for two spots. In Pool B, Japan has booked their ticket to the Championship Round, though their seed is still undetermined. In Pool C, Puerto Rico and Czech Republic have advanced with tomorrow determining who will finish with the #1 seed. In the final pool, Canada has claimed one of the two spots.


POOL A


No. 17 Philippines (3-1) v Turkey (0-5)

Philippines easily handled Turkey in the first game of the day to improve their record to 3-1. The Asian nation had the bats going as they scored eight runs in the 1st and 2 runs in the second for a 10-0 win. Clean-up batter Juliet Omul led all batters going 2-for-3, including a double and a triple to drive in two runs. Kaith Jalandoni pitched the no-hitter, striking out seven and walking only one batter.

Lyca Blanco led the inning off with a single and made her way home after two hits and a passed ball. With two outs, Juliet Omul hit a sacrifice fly to right field to drive in the third run of the game. Lange Sierra earned her first win of the world championship pitching the complete game allowing only one hit.

The Dutch scored two runs in the 1st, blew the game open in the 2nd to score 15 runs, and closed the game out plating five runs in the 3rd inning. Rhowan Stuart led all batters going 3-for-3 with a home run, while driving in three runs. Loy Uchenna Jong, Feline Poot, and Onaisha Franka were also credited with multiple RBIs. Peru’s Thais Uyema legged out double and a triple, while Pamela Hirakata, Michelle Iparraguirre, Alessandra Rico, and Yaritza La Rosa each had doubles. Michelle Moromizato earned the win pitching 2.1 innings with two hits, walks, runs, and strike outs each to the 12 batters she faced.

Netherlands jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated Bahamas 4-0. Onaisha Franka hit a lead-off single and was driven in off a Feline Poot sacrifice fly. Rhowan Stuart walked to reach base only to be driven in by Jong Loy Uchenna in the 1st inning. No further runs were scored in the game until the 7th inning when Ismay Poot singled with one out and later scored on a defensive error. Charlotte Drijvers then hit a two-out double to drive in Stuart for her second run of the game to give the Europeans the 4-0 win.
