Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Nicaragua win in the U-18 Baseball World Cup consolation round

THUNDER BAY (Ontario, Canada)-Mexico beat Italy, Nicaragua outscored South Africa in the consolation round of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017

With the win against The Netherlands (3-1), Chinese Taipei (4-0) secures the win in the consolation round and the seventh place overall in the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017.
Mexico (2-2) beat Italy (2-2) and Nicaragua (1-3) outscore South Africa (0-4).
The matches between Nicaragua-Mexico and Italy-The Netherlands will set places from 8 to 11. South Africa will finish in place 12.

Chinese Taipei beat (4-1) The Netherlands and secure seventh place.
The Dutch score first in the bottom of the fourth, as catcher Enrique Hatma homeres off Chinese Taipei reliever Wu Shi Hao.
Chinese Taipei strikes right back in the top of the fifth. First baseman Li Yu Chuan homeres to tie the game on the first pitch by Luuk Ter Beek, Netherlands starter. The other runs come on a couple of defensive errors. In total, The Netherlands committ 5 in the game.
Chinese Taipei doesn’t need to look back. They manufacture the fourth run their way in the eighth. Lead off third baseman Wang Hung Yi singles, advances on a bunt, reaches third on a ground out and scores on designated hitter Tai Pei Lin single.

Mexico defeat (5-4) Italy on a walk off 2 out infield hit by center fielder Miguel Sanchez. Reliever Jose Palafox pitches 4 scoreless innings and earns the win. Mexico outhit (11-7) Italy and committ less errors (2-3). Mexico and Italy ar now tied (2-2) in the standings of the consolation round.
Italy has an early lead thanks to a 2 RBI single by first baseman Seminati, but is plagued by defensive errors: only 2 of the 5 runs Mexico score are earned on pitchers Dall’Agnese and Battioni. Mexico tying run in the seventh is actually  due to a defensive error.

Nicaragua beat (11-1, 8 innings) South Africa to improve their record to 1-3 in the consolation round and leave South Africa the only team without wins.
Nicaragua took the lead in the second off starter Peach (who suffered the loss) on a double by catcher Valdez and capitalizing, with a sacrifice fly by first baseman Castillo, on a defensive error. They had no need to look back and broke the score open with a 6 run
eighth and ended the game on the mercy rule.
JEffi Silva pitched 8 innings and struck out 13 to earn the win.
